An internship with the Make-A-Wish Foundation® is a great way to create a learning experience while giving back to the community. There are several areas in which interns are needed:
The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana is accepting applications for internships in wish granting, development and fundraising. Offices are located in Toledo, Cleveland, Columbus, & Cincinnati, Ohio, Louisville, Kentucky & Indianapolis, Indiana.
Preliminary Qualifications Include:
· Enrollment in university setting- senior or junior level.
· Able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
· Detail-oriented and well organized.
· Excellent communication and customer service skills.
· Able to successfully work in a collaborative, team-oriented organization.
· Commitment to and a passion for the work of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Title: Volunteer Management Intern at the Central Ohio Make-A-Wish office

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® is the nation’s largest wish-granting organization. Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has given hope, strength and joy to children with life-threatening medical conditions. From our humble beginnings with one boy’s wish to be a police officer, we’ve evolved into an organization that grants a child’s wish in the U.S. every 40 minutes. The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, has six regional offices in Toledo, Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Louisville and Indianapolis. This year, our Chapter celebrated its 10,000th wish. Our goal is to grant a record-breaking 980 wishes of local children this milestone year.
General Summary:
The key element to this position is to combine community service with academic learning and reflection to benefit both student and community. Our goal is to provide interns with an overall knowledge of how non-profits are structured, while still allowing them to specialize in a particular facet of the Foundation. This Volunteer Management intern will have a large focus on executing volunteer management processes. Note: Incumbents may be required to perform other job-related tasks than those specifically presented in this description.
Internship Description:
Manage new incoming volunteer applications
Support a special project for recognizing active volunteers
Write and send twice-monthly volunteer email newsletters
Update and maintain volunteer files
Support the implementation of a new volunteer training program
Operate within the policies and procedures established by the National Office and local Make-A-Wish Foundation chapter
Qualifications:
Student in a Nonprofit Management degree program (preferred)
Professional attitude and appearance
Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Experience with databases preferred
Able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively; strong organizational, project and time management skills
Detail-oriented and well organized
Excellent communication and customer service skill
Able to successfully work in a collaborative, team-oriented organization
Commitment to and a passion for the work of the Make-A-Wish Foundation

Salary: This is an unpaid internship. College credit may be offered.
Hours: May vary based on student’s availability.
