Vice President of Advancement

The University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio seeks a knowledgeable, creative and energetic development leader to serve as its next Vice President of Advancement (VPA).

Established in 1882, The University of Findlay is the largest and most diverse private educational institution in northwest Ohio. It enrolls more than 3,900 students, with 2,900 undergraduate and 1,000 graduate students. Its distinctive and renowned programs include equestrian studies, pre-veterinary medicine, nuclear medicine technology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and physician assistant, as well as environmental, safety and occupational health management.  

Findlay's next VPA will join an institution with impressive momentum, an innovative spirit, and an aspirational culture. Findlay is poised to continue its forward movement and to broadcast aggressively its dynamic profile as a comprehensive private university.  

Position Summary: As the chief advancement officer for the University, the VPA reports directly to President Katherine Rowe Fell, works closely with the Board of Trustees, serves as a key member of the President's Cabinet, and is responsible for leading a comprehensive advancement program. The VPA provides direction for all advancement initiatives, including major gifts, annual giving, alumni and parent relations, planned giving, Web and multimedia, public information, and grants from corporate, government and foundation sponsors.

To date, the University has raised over $22 million toward its current $40 million “Give Voice to Your Values” campaign. The next VPA will lead the institution through to the successful conclusion of this campaign, while also engineering an ambitious strategic plan for the campaign to follow.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will have proven leadership experience in strengthening development programs, planning and managing comprehensive campaigns, cultivating major donors, expanding donor bases, extending outreach programs, and enhancing advancement-related technology and communications. Desired attributes include advanced management expertise, superb interpersonal and communication skills and integrity of the highest order. Significant and relevant experience in an educational or nonprofit institution is preferred.
