Job Description

Job Summary: Lead, direct and manage all aspects of the Philanthropic efforts as well as the Communications and Marketing of the mission of the Cancer Support Community Central Ohio. Two - three years of development experience required.
Job Function:
Work with the CEO, the Board Development and Fundraising Committee and the Marketing and PR Board Committee to develop short and long-range plans. The Manager will report to the CEO and maintain a positive working relationship with the CSC team.
Successful candidate will develop and manage department budget through a fundraising strategy that provides a mix of funding sources: special events, , annual appeal/direct mail and individual gifts, foundation grants/corporate proposals and major gifts.
1. Special events:
Provide over-all management of CSC's special events and media which include annual events: Spring Charity Golf Classic; fall gala Night of Chocolate with silent and live auctions, summer fundraiser (TBD), and other third party fundraisers.
2. Annual appeal:
Review donor data and determine most appropriate recipients of appeal letter.
Assist with creation of appeal letter, supporting documents.
Work with vendors on direct mail campaign and follow up with donors who respond to solicitation.
Grant and corporate proposals
Identify, write and secure corporate and foundation grants.
Coordinate all aspects of grant funding in collaboration with Program Director and other staff as necessary to establish realistic project reporting, budget narratives, and other materials for submission to new funders for new and existing opportunities.
Cultivate ongoing relationships with current and potential corporate/foundation funders -keep in contact with each grant-making organization during their review.
Provide innovative leadership for new and expanding corporate/foundation program. Ensure that information and materials (case documents) are current and available as needed.
Over-see interns/volunteers staff.
Major gifts campaign:
Working with the CEO, board members and other members of the community, identify, cultivate and solicit major gifts from individuals (major gifts are gifts of $1,000 or more).
Board relations
Maintain positive and constructive relations with board members.
Staff the Board Development and Marketing Committee.
Non-profit fundraising management
Ensure that CSC maintains accurate records of all donations.
Manage and maintain a system of record keeping tracking contacts with donors and potential donors.
Has general fundraising experience, including special events; grant writing; donor prospecting, cultivation and recognition; major gifts and planned giving.
Has knowledge of E-Tapestry and Constant Contact.
Marketing and communications
Oversees the development and implementation of annual marketing and communications plan.
Maintains contacts with media-including print, broadcast, and other media and serves as key media contact.
Assists in bi-monthly calendar of events working with staff to write, edit and publish. Manage graphic designer/web master.
Write press releases, talking points, etc.
Maintain social networking, website and other electronic media.
