Central Ohio Community Gathers Together to Kick Off the Season of Giving
(COLUMBUS, Ohio) - The gift of giving was the focus of todays National Philanthropy Day awards luncheon presented by the Central Ohio Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) at the Columbus Renaissance Hotel. The 18th annual event celebrated individuals, companies and organizations that, through their generosity and volunteerism, have made make the central Ohio community a better place to live, work and play. WBNS 10TV news anchor, Andrea Cambern served as emcee.
2011 Honorees included: Outstanding Philanthropist Anne Melvin; Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser Beth Crane; Outstanding Volunteer Fundraising Group Friends Helping Friends (An Adult Day Civic Engagement Group); Outstanding Large Corporation Time Warner Cable; Outstanding Small Corporation Fahlgren Mortine; Outstanding Fundraising Professional Award Lori Hunter Overmyer, MBA, CFRE; Outstanding Youth In Philanthropy Sammy Crozier, Chasing Hope; Judges Award Osteopathic Heritage Foundation; Leave A Legacy Award (Presented by the Central Ohio Planned Giving Council) - Anne Powell Riley.
In 2011, more than 125 communities and 50,000 people around the world will participate in NPD events and celebrations. The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) represents more than 30,000 members in 225 chapters throughout the world, working to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education and certification programs. The association fosters development and growth of fundraising professionals and promotes high ethical standards in the fundraising profession.
